Career entry for immigrant engineers

The University of Kaiserslautern is starting a new round of its qualification program for immigrant engineers. The closing date for applications is the 30th of May 2019.

In August 2019 the fifth year of the engineering science qualification for immigrant engineers at the University of Kaiserslautern will begin.

The offer is for

  • people with migration background
  • people in asylum procedures
  • recognized refugees

with a university degree in the fields of natural sciences, enginieering or IT and a good B1 level of German language skills.

The qualification takes one year: six months at the University of Kaiserslautern and afterwards six months of practical training in a company.

Interesting engineering projects, job-related German, assistance with applications and much more await immigrant professionals from the fields of mathematics, sumputer science, natural science and technology. "In the IAQ I have not only found new self-confidence and friends but also my job in measurement technology", an IAQ participant from Syria was pleased to hear.

90% of IAQ graduates have managed to start their careers in Germany and are now working according to their qualifications as mechanical engineers, computer scientists or physicists. There are no costs for participants. Living expenses contunue to be paid by the respective service providor like Jobcenter.

The advanced training is a project of the Integration and Qualification Centre for MINT professions in Rhineland-Palatinate in the education and further education network pro-mst at the University of Kaiserslautern. As a sub-project of the IQ State Network Rhineland-Palatinate it is financed within the framework of the "Integration through Qualification" funding programe.
