Emergency aid for victims of the forest fires

The International Cultural Association Orpheus from Ludwigshafen is collecting donations for the victims of the fire disaster in Greece.

At the end of July 2018 the fire brigade in Greece fought several forest fires that had got out of control. At least 80 people died in the flames. The fires east and west of the capital Athens were so freat that clouds of smike reached the metropolis and darkened the sun. The authorities declared a state of emergency.

In order to helo the victims of the fire disaster in Greece spontaneously and unbureaucratically the International Cultural Association Orpheus from Ludwigshafen ahs launched a fundraising campaign. The entire donation will be made directly and in full to the fire victims, promises the chairman Joannis Chorosis. The association has published the data of the donation account via its Facebook profile.

The International Orpheus Cultural Association was founded under the motto "Music unites in 2009. In 2010 the "Chorus of Orpheus" was founded. Members are singers, musicians and musicians of different nations. The programme ranges from Byzantine music to Greek choral literature and folklore. For the mixed choir all people interested in Greek culture are welcome. Greek knowledge is not required for participation. Also the getting used to unknown thythms and sounds is done step by step and adapted to the choir's level.

The International Orpheus Cultural Association has gained a good reputation through many performances in the region, through participation in, for expample, the world festivals in the Theater im Pfalzbau and thorugh programmes it has developed itself, including a homage to Mikis Theodorakis as well as a homage to Melina Mercouri.
