Vocational training

A good education is the most important prerequisite for a successful start into professional life. In order to find a job in Germany, it is important to have completed vocational training or a course of study.

Vocational training takes two to three years and usually takes place in the so-called dual system. This means that practical in-company training is combined with theoretical learning phases at a school. Some training, for example in the nursing field, is only offered in schools. Access to vocational training generally requires at least a lower secondary school leaving certificate.
