Book tips in the Corona period

For bookworms the quarantine during the Corona time does not seem to be too bad. There are many different types of books: crime novels, novels, fantasy books and much more! Some prefer classic books. Others prefer to read digital books - like e-books.

We have put together some book tips for you here. A large selection that will surely have something for everyone:

Thrillers and crime novels

POPPY - Astrid Korten

One of the strongest novels of the year, based on true events. This story is about psycho games, abuse and resistance. It is both heartwarming and frightening. The main character "Poppy" manages to make the unimaginable imaginable. Tension and humour are capitalised in this book.  

The inmate - Sebastian Fitzek 

Little Max Berkhoff disappeared a year ago. Only the offender knows what happened to him. But the perpetrator is in a psychiatric hospital and remains silent. Max's father has no other choice: he must know what happened. And so he becomes an inmate, a prisoner to talk to the perpetrator.

 

Novels

The house of women - Laetitia Colombani 

In this novel the author tells of two heroic women. There is a house in Paris that offers refuge to all the women of the world. The lawyer Solène also visits this house after a breakdown. But who created this house? Who was this woman? That's what Solène is trying to find out. A novel about brave women and an appeal for more solidarity.

HERKUNFT - Saša Stanišić (winner of the German Book Prize 2019)

The Institute - Stephan King

Bird Box - Close your eyes - Josh Malerman

The novel to the Netflix movie starring Sandra Bullock. Open your eyes and you are dead! This is what Malorie has been telling her two children from birth. The family leaves the house as rarely as possible. And if they do, they do so blindfolded. Because there's something outside. And when you look at it, it drives you crazy. The phone rings. An unknown caller offers the family a safe place not far from their house, but blindfolded out of reach. Still, Malorie gets into a boat with her kids. Hope or death? You'll find out in this book.

 

Children's books

The day grandma broke the internet - Marc-Uwe Kling

Miracle, don't look at me - Raquel J. Palacio (Awarded the German Youth Literature Prize 2014)

Milk and Honey - Rupi Kaur (English, not available as e-book)

Bana Ikimizi Anlat - Ahmet Batman (Turkish, not available as e-book)
