In the middle of Ludwigshafen's Oggersheim West quarter, many people and many things come together under the roof of the Comenius Neighbourhood Centre, supported by the spirit of the namesake Johann Amos Comenius: "We are all citizens of one world.... Hate a person because he was born elsewhere, because he speaks a different language, because he thinks differently about things - what thoughtlessness!" From the crawling group and the co-operation with the adjacent Protestant Comenius Kindergarten, the homework supervision of pupils of the neighbouring Realschule plus, which are supplied weekly with freshly cooked meal by volunteers, language and alphabetisation courses up to cooking events with groups of refugees, which invite all interested to a meal and information about their origin country. Regularly, a women's breakfast, a woman round, groups for self-help and seminar offers take place additionally.

As part of the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region Volunteers' Day on 15 September 2018, the Comenius Nachbarschaftszentrum Lu-Oggersheim e. V. (Comenius Neighbourhood Centre Lu-Oggersheim Association) has made the neighbourhood centre more attractive both inside and out. The organisation team built bee and insect hotels with the volunteers, cleaned the shelter, repainted benches, removed weeds and completely redesigned the community garden, among other things with a herb snail. Inside, nest blankets for dementia sufferers were sewn, upholstered chairs cleaned and cooked and baked for the final meal.
