World-Café racism in the digital world

What challanges do you face when dealing with racism in the digital world and what (digital or especially analogue) creative solutions are there? What's missing? Who could do that?

The Thematic Table Racism focused on the manifestations of right-wing and right-wing extramist portals. From their aesthetic appearance and the initially generalised contents (environment, culture, language and health) one often does not suspect a racist backgorund at first glance. Some of them are professionally made and make use of modern forms of expression and intellectual design symbolism, as they are also used in "harmless" pages on social criticism. They address social problems and offer simple solutions. The approaches of the protals with a legal affinity are then based on xenophobic, racist and discriminatory statements. News about refugees is repeatedly manipulated and leads to false conclusions. Some portals from with subtle expressions, play with fear of the poreign and stir up social envy. In the social networks, but also in everyday life, one repeatedly encounters racist, discriminatory statements from friends, colleagues or even superiors. The question arose: How do I achieve competence to act?

It was recommended to react to personal attacks with a good amount of humour, because humour can lead to positive irritation. However, it should also be considered on a case-by-case basis whether this reaction is appropriate whether ignorance or clear clarification is apporpriate. As an example, opposing algorithms could be installed to disrupt the offer - the problems and the high effort involved in a possible practical application were pointed out. Knowledge should be "fetched" from young people, evaluated and processed into contemporary concepts. For practical use, better information should be provided via existing information portals (e.g.B. click safe). Methodological competence should already be taught in KITAS. Furthermore, concepts with a systemic approach are to be offered at schools - e.g.B. for parents counselling as many parents are overwhelmed with the topic. For multipliers contructive communication training should be offered, based on the argumentation training, as well as obligatory media competence training for teachers.
